Lead the finance function of an ambitious growth company and help drive its international expansion.
Meja is looking for a CFO for a growing company within its portfolio. With ambitions to expand internationally, both organically and through acquisitions, the business needs a financial leader who combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
You will build a finance organisation that supports growth across markets, provides clear insights and helps management turn ambition into results. Working closely with the management team, Meja and the board, you will take ownership of financial strategy, reporting, cash management, funding and acquisition integration.
About Meja
Meja is an investment partner that helps ambitious businesses grow over the long term. We combine capital, strategic support and hands-on involvement, working closely with entrepreneurs and management teams to build stronger companies.
Our approach is pragmatic and collaborative: understand the business, focus on what matters and help make things happen.
What you will do
- Shape financial strategy. Translate the company's growth and international expansion ambitions into financial plans, clear priorities and measurable targets.
- Support international expansion. Define funding requirements and establish financial reporting and controls across countries.
- Lead planning and reporting. Own budgets, forecasts and consolidated reporting, providing timely insights to management, Meja and the board.
- Drive business performance. Understand the drivers of revenue, margins and profitability across markets, challenge assumptions and propose concrete improvements.
- Manage cash and working capital. Improve cash forecasting, invoicing, collections and payment processes to support growth.
- Support acquisitions and lead financial integration. Contribute to financial assessments and integrate acquired businesses into a consistent reporting and control framework.
- Manage financing. Maintain banking relationships, assess funding needs and monitor financing agreements and financial covenants.
- Build and lead the finance team. Develop people, clarify responsibilities and create a finance organisation that can scale with the business.
- Strengthen systems and processes. Improve financial tools, data quality and controls, using automation where it adds value.
- Oversee accounting, tax and compliance. Ensure accurate accounts and timely fulfilment of financial and tax obligations across jurisdictions, working with internal teams and external advisers.
- Act as a trusted business partner. Identify risks early, communicate clearly and help management make informed decisions.
What you bring
- A proven track record in senior financial leadership, as a CFO, Finance Director or an experienced Finance Manager ready to take the next step.
- Strong accounting knowledge combined with financial planning, business controlling and cash management skills.
- Experience in a growing business, ideally involving international operations, acquisitions, multiple entities or private equity ownership.
- The ability to move comfortably between strategic discussions and operational detail.
- Confidence in challenging assumptions constructively and translating financial information into clear recommendations.
- Experience leading and developing finance teams.
- A practical understanding of financial systems and reporting tools. Experience with Exact Online is an advantage.
- A relevant degree in finance, economics, business administration or a related field.
- Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English. French and other languages are an advantage.
- A hands-on mindset: you take ownership, solve problems and follow through.
Experience supporting international expansion, including cross-border reporting, financing and integration, is a strong advantage. Experience in B2B services, digital or technology-enabled businesses is particularly relevant.
What we offer
- A CFO role with direct influence on the strategy, performance and international growth of an ambitious company.
- Close collaboration with an entrepreneurial management team and Meja as an actively involved shareholder.
- The opportunity to build a finance function that supports expansion into new markets and future acquisitions.
- A competitive remuneration package aligned with your experience and responsibilities.
- A pragmatic working environment with room for initiative, professional development and flexibility.
