Meja invests in ambitious companies and helps them reach their next stage of growth. Artificial intelligence is becoming a decisive part of that journey, and we're looking for an AI Deployment Lead to make it real across our portfolio.
In this role, you turn AI from an idea into working solutions inside our portfolio companies, improving how they operate today and opening up new ways to grow tomorrow. It's a role for someone who is equally comfortable defining strategy with a management team and building the first version themselves, with the mandate to shape how we approach AI across every company we back.
About Meja
Meja is an Antwerp-based investment firm. We take participations in companies and build them out together with their management teams, with our own capital and a long-term view. We work closely and hands-on with the entrepreneurs we back, and technology is an increasingly central part of how we help them grow.
Our current portfolio includes Craftzing, Wieni, Leadstreet, Beatswitch, Premium Partners and Going Kolombo. These are for the most part digital, marketing and tech-enabled service companies, each moving into its next stage of growth.
What you'll do
- Partner with the management teams of our portfolio companies to build an AI roadmap for each business: understanding how they operate, identifying where AI creates the most value, and setting clear priorities.
- Build the first prototypes and solutions yourself, taking them from concept through to reliable, production-ready applications that teams can depend on day to day.
- Define the standards that let the group scale: architecture, evaluation, security, and clean data separation between companies, built on reusable foundations.
- Help each company recruit, onboard and develop its own AI engineers, and provide functional leadership to that growing group of engineers.
- Deliver a focused set of priority projects each quarter, agreed together with the partners and the CEOs involved, so effort stays where it has the most impact.
- Work directly with the Meja partners, to whom you report, and with the CEOs and teams of the companies we back.
What you bring
- At least five years of professional experience, with a strong track record in technology.
- Hands-on experience building and delivering software, including applications that use AI.
- Experience setting up or leading a small engineering team.
- A demonstrable track record of taking a product or SaaS application into production, not just to prototype stage.
- A good understanding of how to evaluate AI outputs and make applications reliable in real, everyday use.
- The ability to translate a business need into a practical solution, and to earn the confidence of a CEO while doing it.
- A proactive, curious and pragmatic approach, with sound judgment about where technology genuinely adds value.
- Fluency in Dutch and English.
